Computer Science PhD Project Description
The IMPACT-RISE project revolutionizes community resilience and sustainability assessment using machine learning (ML) and explainable artificial intelligence (XAI).
This PhD studentship allows you to develop cutting-edge methods to protect the public from high-impact, low-probability occurrences and long-term, high-probability threats.
Computer Science PhD Project Focus
- Develop ML models to simulate infrastructure behaviour.
- Assess infrastructure reaction to natural and artificial extreme events for community risk assessment. Use multidisciplinary methods for dependable models.
- Use XAI to make model decision-making transparent.
Computer Science PhD Project Responsibilities
- * Research physics-informed ML, Bayesian statistics, and XAI.
- * Develop structural analysis, hazard modelling, and finite element modelling skills—team up with engineers, data scientists, and risk analysts. Share research findings in conferences.
Computer Science PhD Qualifications**
- * Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar field.
- * Knowledge of machine learning and data analysis.
- * Python programming knowledge desired.
- * Good communication and teamwork.
