Fully Funded PhD Programs Project Description 2024

Police employ AI-based biometrics, such as facial recognition and speech analysis. These systems are “black box” systems, so this project examines decision-making and data biases.

You will:

We will analyze open deep-learning architectures for facial and speech biometrics and provide open-source tools to explain decision-making in these systems.

We will detect generative AI (“deep fakes”) using explainable AI (xAI) and examine potential biases in deep learning architectures across populations.
