Training Stipend & Military Service Pay (MSP)
- Stipend During Cadet Training: Gentlemen and Lady Cadets receive a fixed monthly stipend of ₹56,100 during their entire stay at the academy. On commissioning, pay is fixed in Level 10, and arrears of admissible allowances are paid out.
- Military Service Pay (MSP): Officers from the rank of Lieutenant up to Brigadier receive a fixed ₹15,500 per month as Military Service Pay.

Step 3: Filling the Details

INDIAN ARMY Exam Pattern
Exam patterns for INDIAN ARMY are provided below.
1. Application Submission & Initial Screening
- Online Registration: Candidates must submit a single, error-free application via the official Indian Army recruiting portal.
- Accuracy Verification: The candidate’s name, parents’ names, and date of birth must match their Matriculation/Secondary School Certificate exactly, or their candidature will be canceled.
2. Shortlisting of Applications (Bonus Marks System)
Unlike traditional entries, there is no written exam for the NCC Special Entry. Candidates are shortlisted for the SSB interview based on a fixed 100-mark Bonus System compiled from their NCC and academic performance:
- Performance in NCC ‘C’ Certificate (Max 50 Marks):
- ‘A’ Grade = 50 Bonus Marks
- ‘B’ Grade = 25 Bonus Marks
- Performance in Graduation (Max 50 Marks):
- Below 60.00% = 0 Marks
- 60.00% to 64.99% = 05 Marks
- 65.00% to 69.99% = 10 Marks
- 70.00% to 74.99% = 20 Marks
- 75.00% to 79.99% = 30 Marks

Example: A candidate with 72% in Graduation (20 marks) and a ‘A’ Grade in NCC ‘C’ (50 marks) will receive a total score of 70 bonus marks for the shortlisting merit pool.
- Call-Up Ratio: Based on organizational requirements, the Directorate General of Recruiting compiles a merit pool from these bonus marks and shortlists candidates according to a designated vacancy-to-call-up ratio. Shortlisted candidates are notified via their registered email/SMS.
3. Selection of SSB Centre & Dates
- Shortlisted candidates must log back into the portal to choose their preferred SSB Center and interview dates on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Available Selection Centers include Prayagraj (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka), and Jalandhar (Punjab).
4. Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview
The SSB is a comprehensive 5-day evaluation process divided into two mandatory stages:
- Stage I Evaluation (Day 1): Involves intelligence tests and picture perception/discussion tests. Candidates who fail to clear Stage I are returned home on the very same day.
- Stage II Evaluation (Days 2 to 5): Shortlisted Stage I clearers advance to psychological tests, group testing officer (GTO) tasks, and a personal interview.
- Document Verification: Candidates must carry all original academic degrees, mark sheets, and their NCC ‘C’ certificate to the SSB center. DigiLocker documents are strictly not accepted in place of originals.
5. Medical Examination
- Candidates recommended by the SSB after Stage II undergo a detailed physical and medical examination by a Military Medical Board.
- Only candidates declared fully “Medical FIT” are eligible to move forward to the final stage.
6. Final Merit List & Joining Instructions
- Score-Based Merit: The final merit list is compiled strictly on the basis of marks obtained during the SSB interview. Academic percentages or previous track records play no role here.
- Tie-Breaker Rules: If multiple candidates score identical SSB marks, the older candidate is ranked higher. If the age is also identical, the candidate with the higher percentage in the qualifying graduation exam takes precedence.
- Joining Letter: Candidates who feature in the merit list and fall within the allocated category vacancies are issued official joining instructions for the 49-week training at OTA Chennai starting in April 2027.
